Privacy Policy

Who we are

Prep-Less ("we", "us") is a teaching companion for independent ESL tutors, operated by an individual founder. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@prep-less.com.

What we collect

We collect only what the service needs to work:

• Your account: the email address you sign in with. We use passwordless sign-in, so we never store a password for you.
• Student information you enter: the names, language level, first language, learning style, goals, and lesson notes you add for each student. You enter this — the only thing Prep-Less collects on its own is the work a student types into a share link you sent them, which is saved to that student's homework so you can see it.
• Billing: if you subscribe, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your card. We never see or store your full card number.
• Waitlist: if you join the pre-launch list, the email address you give us and which plan you were interested in. You can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing support@prep-less.com, and we delete it automatically if you later create an account and delete it.
• Basic usage and technical data: things like which features you used and standard server logs, used to run and improve the service.

How we use your information

We use it to run Prep-Less for you: to generate lessons, worksheets, feedback, and course plans; to keep track of each student's progress; to process your subscription; and to keep the service secure. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing (important)

Prep-Less generates lessons and feedback using Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. To do this, the student information you enter and your requests are sent to Anthropic's API so the model can produce a lesson tailored to that student.

Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, the content you send is not used to train their models. Anthropic acts as a processor on our behalf. You should only enter student information you have the right to share, and avoid entering sensitive personal details you don't need in a lesson.

Student share pages

You can create a no-login link to share a lesson or a student page with your student. A student page shows that student their own name, their level and learning style, their goals and progress, the plan of what's coming (each topic and the one-line objective under it), the words to review, their level history, how many lessons they've had, and their homework — including any answers they type back. A lesson link shows that one lesson. Your private notes, anything marked teacher-only such as an answer key, and every other student are never included. You can revoke a share link at any time, which immediately stops it from working.

Cookies

Prep-Less sets a small number of cookies, all of them needed to run the service. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no third-party tracker on the site.

• Sign-in session: set when you sign in, so you stay signed in as you move between prep-less.com and app.prep-less.com. Not readable by scripts. Cleared when you sign out.
• Sign-in email (15 minutes): when you type your email into the sign-in form or the waitlist form, we remember the address so coming back to the page doesn't make you retype it. Not readable by scripts.
• Checkout intent (15 minutes): if you pick a plan before signing in, this remembers which one so we can send you to the right checkout afterwards. Not readable by scripts.
• Time zone (1 year): your browser's time zone, so lesson dates and your monthly usage window show in your local time rather than ours.

Who else handles your data

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the service:

• Anthropic — the AI that generates lesson content.
• Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions.
• Supabase — the database that stores your account and students.
• Vercel — hosting for the website and app.

Each processes data only to provide their part of the service, under their own security and privacy commitments.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page — this removes your students and account data, removes your address from the waitlist if it's still there, and cancels any active subscription. If you'd like help with a deletion or a copy of your data, or you only want off the waitlist, email support@prep-less.com and we'll take care of it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and each account's data is isolated so one tutor can never see another's students. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

Prep-Less is a tool for adult tutors, not for children to sign up and use directly. If a student you teach is a minor, you are responsible for having the appropriate consent before entering their information or sharing a lesson page with them.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change, we'll update this page and the date below. Continuing to use Prep-Less after a change means you accept the updated policy.
